waiting, and wondering

Well we made it to Bismarck last night after a LONG drive through a blizzard. A drive that normally takes us just over an hour took us 2 hours. It was aweful. We had to drive 35-40mph pretty much the whole way. Thank goodness Justyn's a good driver. We're about to go meet Kerry & Heather at Perkins for breakfast & watch to see if our flight stays on time or if it gets delayed. The blizzard is in effect until 7am tomorrow (Tuesday) so time will tell. There was a flight early this morning that was cancelled and the 8am one (not sure which airline) was delayed. I'm just hoping we can still get out of dodge & get to Vegas.....ugh....I'm so over this LONG North Dakota winter....bring on the sunshine & warm weather!

Have a great week!

Earth Hour

A friend shared this with me & I think its a fabulous idea! I urge you all to do this as well!

QUOTED
For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet.

Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday. We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour

HE DID IT AGAIN!

Prestyn slept through the night again! Actually he's still sleeping!! YAY! I can't remember the last time I woke up before him! :) LOVE IT!

We're gonna go to our friend Teryn's house for coffee this morning. Cayden loves playing with Isabelle, so I'm sure they'll have fun! :)

The rest of the day I need to spend getting stuff organized around here & start getting my packing started for Vegas. Usually I would have packed & repacked about 5 times by now, but I'm just not too worried about it all. Just excited and counting down until we get to be there. I'm ready for warm weather & sunshine, and a FUN FUN time!

Thinking of all your Lustre-ites as Schmeckfest happens tonight. Wishing we could be there to enjoy it all with you! Praying everything goes smoothly & safely! Can't wait to hear all about it. SOMEBODY has to eat some verenika for me!!! (and take a picture) teehee

Okay, off to feed the babe!

Lazy day, more wind & a little snow

PRESTYN SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! whoohoo! I'm so cheesed! I'm praying he does it again tonight & on & on & on! It was amazing.

We just had a relaxing day today, got stocked up on some groceries, finished signing our papers for our will, and I did some cleaning. Not too much else. Prestyn pulled up to his knees at his bookshelf today...I'll have to upload the picture to share later!

I've got a bunch of stuff to get done tonight, like printing our tickets to VEGAS!!!! YAY! 90 hours and 41 minutest until we fly out of Bizzo! :) YAY!! I can't wait to be in 70-80 degree weather. Actually, scratch that, I'd be okay with 55-60, as long as the sun is shining.

So off I go, gotta get some stuff done!

quiet day today

We had a pretty quiet day today! Justyn was outside shovelling most of the morning & some more later this afternoon. We had an appointment we went to this afternoon, so Justyn had fun driving the pickup through all the snow. Thank goodness we have a pickup with 4-wheel drive, or we would have surely been stuck at home. We drove through a huge snow drift and after going through Cayden asked Daddy if we could do it again! SUCH A BOY!

The city hadn't even plowed our street (we're on a cul-de-sac) at 3:30 this afternoon. Finally someone came with a bobcat & cleared most of the snow! :)

I managed to get caught up on laundry today & bake a batch of cookies.

Cayden got to play outside in the snow a little bit while the bobcat was out, and had a blast.

That's all for today!

More pictures, SNOW SNOW SNOW

WOW! I can't believe the ammount of snow we woke up to this morning & continued to get throughout the day. As of right now we've gotten about a foot of snow, but where it was blowing & drifting it was probably about 4 feet high. Next to the house in the backyard the snow is about up to Justyn's eye level.

Justyn went out to shovel this afternoon to try to get the pickup out to take Alicia & family home, we had heard the other roads were back open & he thought if he could get out of our driveway we could get her home. This picture shows him resting the shovel on the TOP of the snowdrift, CRAZY HUGE SNOWDRIFT!

We shovelled & shovelled and GOT STUCK IN THE STREET. It was about 2-3 feet deep. So we shovelled back out & drove back up into the driveway.
Look at my handsome hubby - still smiling after all this snow, and shovelling:

and me, down in the snow on the street that we just dug out of:

Here's a neighbor snowblowing his driveway, I can't believe this snow...still amazing me.

We had decided to not even try to get out (we don't have a snowblower & there was just too much snow in the street) and were about to sit down to dinner when our awesome neighbors came over with their 4-wheeler & shovels & started shovelling our driveway! :) So Justyn bundled back up & went out again! Thank God for awesome neighbors! They've been doing this all winter long. Looks like I need to do a MAJOR baking session & bring the neighbors some goodies!!
Justyn managed to get the pickup out & get Alicia & family back home! We've just been relaxing tonight, and actually lost power for about 20 minutes, but all is well!!
YEESH, what a bunch of crazy weather.

Okay, so a bonus pic for you all! Prestyn's latest trick, he just did this today:

BLIZZARD!!!

So after all the flooding, and rain yesterday, it started sleeting last night, and then switched to SNOW!! We're expected to get anywhere from 8-14 inches. UGH!

Our friend Alicia and her kids came here last night as the water in their town is only a block from her house & she wasn't comfortable being home alone (hubby is working). She just talked to her husband and he can't get back to town from work. 1) the water is still to high to come through on 49 and 2) the blizzard is making it NO TRAVEL ADVISED. LOVELY!! So I think she'll be here for the rest of the day. Just thankful everyone we know is safe.

Pleas continue to pray for those who have been evacuated and those who are stranded away from home. We're in a blizzard warning until 6pm tonight.

Here are my pictures out our window this morning.

rain, water, flooding

Well, there is alot of water in town, south of the tracks is flooded, they have had people evacuate. We had to run downtown today to pick up a few things so I took these pictures.
This is from the gas station, this road on the right you can see heads up the hill in the distance - this is HWY 49, it's closed.

Please keep all the families who have had to evacuate in your prayers. Looks like it will be quite the mess to clean up! That's all for tonight.

Rainy day

We went to church/sunday school this morning. We have been so blessed since moving here & finding a fabulous church home. We've met alot of great friends through our church and our MOPS group.
Cayden has been going to sunday school since this fall and he LOVES it & he loves his teacher. He always comes out with stories & songs. It's great, and he has a bunch of friends in there too, so that always makes it exciting for him.
Prestyn slept through the whole service today too, it was so nice.
It was a cool, rainy, windy day today. I love days like this!!!
After lunch and putting the boys down for naps I baked some French Apple Cobbler and then we cleaned all the windows inside (yes, I said WE, I have an amazing husband who pitches in on EVERYTHING around here). Then I was in cleaning mode so ended up cleaning the rest of the house. It feels so good to get things accomplished.
We've spent the rest of the evening just hanging out & playing. I love days like this. GOODNIGHT!

The Park

We got invited to the park today with some friends. It was a little cooler than we expected, but the kids still had a great time.

We ended up coming back here to warm up & have lunch. It was a fun day, and both boys are OUT! Nothing like some fresh air to make the kiddos sleep well! I think mama's gonna sleep well too!

I love days spent with good friends!

Spring has sprung!!

Oh how I am loving this beautiful spring weather, I just hope its here to stay. The sun was out yesterday, hardly any wind and it was just too beautiful to NOT go for a walk. So I loaded up the boys and we took off on a hike!
Prestyn wasn't too sure of having to sit in the "baby" carrier, he prefers the stroller itself, but I knew the sun would bother him, so he was stuck:

Cayden was ready to go "hurry up mom, and quit taking our picture!":

And the boys while we were on our walk:

Somehow we always manage to find the ONE water puddle...but such is life with boys right? I guess I don't so much mind that though since they slept fabulously last night. Praise the Lord for spring weather and healthy kids.

Yesterdays Project

Yesterday I spent the morning at my friend Lorisa's having coffee and chatting, the boys had a good time playing together. In the afternoon I prepped 12 new prefolds for Prestyn. They came to me like this:
Photobucket
I boiled 2 pots of water with a squirt of dawn:
Photobucket
Then I put 3 prefolds into each pot & boiled them for 20 minutes. I had to stir them occasionally and press them back down into the water:
Photobucket
When they were done boiling I wrung them out with a pair of tongs on the side of the pot (notice my sweet little man watching the action):
Photobucket
I put them into a laundry basket lined with a towel to absorb some of the moisture:
Photobucket
Then I did round 2. This is how much smaller they were after boiling:
Photobucket
What Prestyn ended up doing during all of this:
Photobucket
how sweet is this face?:
Photobucket
And then I had to wash them 2x's in the machine on hot & dry on hot, here's the finished product:
Photobucket

At this point I realized I ordered the wrong size, UGH, but hey, at least I have some diapers for whenever we have another baby! LOL
