2nd experiment - WALKING WATER

We decided to add one more experiment to our day!
It's "walking water"
saw this idea through pinterest too & got the deets on this blog:
http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/2011/03/walking-water/
We filled a cup with water & food coloring.
Put a long strip of paper towel into it & then placed an empty cup below with the paper towel ending in the bottom empty cup.
We had to do 2 of course & "race" them (boys will be boys) to see who's filled the fastest.
This was a SLOW process, but fun because they would check back throughout the day to see who's was winning. We'd mark with sharpies occasionally to see where we were at & how far the water had "walked"
This was a couple hours in.
 About 4 hours in.
This is overnight, our experiement worked & our water travelled from one cup down to the next.
The boys thought this was pretty cool!

Science Experiment

Sidney was napping so we decided to do a little science experiment & make "Elephant Toothpaste"
We started with a baking sheet & an empty water bottle.
Here they are ready for action!
1st: mix 2 Tbsp warm water with 1 tsp yeast in a seperate container.

2nd: into the water bottle we poured 1/2 cup 6% hydrogen peroxide (mine was 3% - I think if I had 6% it would have been "toothpastier" lol) 4-5 drops of food coloring & a squirt of dish soap.

3rd: we poured the yeast mixture into the hydrogen peroxide mixture.

Then we watched in amazement as the mixtures reacted!

The toothpaste flowed out onto the cookie sheet.

Our first round was green, so of course we had to do a 2nd round with BLUE!

Then we had to play in the "toothpaste".
Our experiment was a success & we shall do it again some other time when we need some entertainment!
I found the idea through Pinterest & got the info from this blog:

And the details of the reaction if you want to know:
quoted from the above website!
"The reaction is summarized by this formula: 2 H2O2 --> 2 H2O + 02.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) naturally breaks down into water and oxygen. It is stored in opaque containers to help slow down this process. Catalase (an enzyme in all living things, including yeast) speeds up the reaction. Dish soap catches the oxygen and makes bigger bubbles and the food coloring makes it look cool. The foam and bottle feel warm because the reaction is exothermic--it releases energy as heat."

SNEAKY...yes we are!

I should have taken a before picture, but of course I forgot.
Ma Klatt always has cute sayings on the garage doors for each holiday etc.
When all the Klatts were home it said "Welcome Home Klatts"
This last weekend we went home for the Geigle Reunion & it said
"where did the summer go"

Well, we were outside with the kids & I had an idea to swap the letters around.
I did, with the ones she had, but it was dumb.
So I recruited the master....Heather!
We found Nana's stash of ALL her letters.
Then we proceeded to sneak outside.
We came up with this.....
and the first car to drive by honked!!  WHOOT, success!
We waited until we were all leaving & went in our cars & started honking.
Ma came out all confused....until she saw the garage doors.
Then she giggled!
We didn't even get in trouble! bwhahaha
I wonder how often there is honking going on at their place?
I also wonder where she'll hide her letters so we can't do this again next time we come!

LOVE YOU MA!! :)

MONSTER TRUCKS!

We took the kids to Monster Trucks for Prestyn's 4th Birthday!
Here we are ready to go in!
We met up with Uncle Ryan & Chance & Uncle Kerry, Auntie Heather, Kole & Beau there!
The kids checking out the trucks.
Prestyn & Uncle Ryan waiting for the action to start!
 Our whole crew:
Uncle Ryan, Prestyn, Chance, me, Justyn, a peek of Sidney's face, Kole, Uncle Kerry, Auntie Heather, Beau & Cayden!
We all had so much fun! I don't think I've laughed that hard in ages.
 The little lady!
 C-money!
 P-diddy the birthday boy!
 Some monster truck action!
 Uncle Kerry & Auntie Heather!
Me, the sidster & Justyn
I think this was my favorite part.  People had enetered their vehicles in this "contest".
They had to drive through a mud pit, & then hit a few jumps & go around a car.
It was hilarious. We had so much fun screaming & cheering for them & of course laughing our butts off at the craziness of some of the driving.
The kids got a hoot out of it too!
Me & my beautiful SIL Heather after we couldn't stop laughing!!!
Chance bailed on us right away for some cute girls....typical teenage boy!
 More monster trucks.
This guy happened to be walking back to his seat at the wrong time & was SPLATTERED with mud!
Cayden's pose KILLS me!!
BWHAHAHAH, he's so my son!!!
Me & my favorite little people!!!
 Beau, Sidney & me!
 It was getting dark!
 Me & my birthday boy!!
 Ain't she purdy!?
LOVE!!!
And of course I couldn't leave you without some random silly pictures.
This is Cayden's lastest, EVERY picture, make a goofy face.
Reminds me of my cousin Aaron. He could NEVER just smile nicely for a picture.
He was always making a face or crossing his eyes or something.
Beau getting in on the goofy action!!
 Silly girl!
 Our 3 little people!
The best part of the whole night....
the trailer pull.
NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD.
There were van's pulling hot tubs, campers, motorcylcles.

Oh my hilariousness.
We voted that next year the Klatt boys race/set up a rig for the event.
BWHAHAHAH
oh & the best part of all, the little pink car (that Sidney of course was cheering for)
WON!!!

Fun with the cousins.

Another shot of Sidney & Anthony, playing house together this time!
The Marottek kids & the Klatt kids, jamm'n out!

Anthony & Sidney

These 2 crack me up!
They are like a little old married couple.
They share their food, push the strollers around the house with their babies & other random toys.
They in general just play together & have fun!
 Aren't they sweet!

The kids!

Hard to believe in a few short months there will actually be #4 in these photos!!
I love them!
